“May you enjoy singing these songs as much as I enjoyed composing them.
As a vocal instructor, I have always appreciated songs that have a sense of humour and are just as much fun to teach as they are for the students to sing. As a composer, I loved conceiving of these stories and finding inspiration in everything I saw and experienced. That enigmatic candy jar sits on my bookshelf every year during the holidays, Mr. Duckworth and Mrs. Bunnington, along with their new friend from Scotland, Angus McRuff, visit from time to time to help my students practice communicating with an audience and… I looove the colour purple!
There has been a concerted effort to create music in this collection that stretches the student but is still well-suited to their vocal abilities. I hope other teachers find these songs to be great opportunities to help their students learn to bring a story to life while developing their vocal technique. These songs continue to be a hit at the Winnipeg Music Festival in since they were first performed in 2012 and have been featured during events like Canada Music Week the Musicthon held by the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers Association in support of Variety.”
“Tiffany Prochera’s music is whimsical, fun and entertaining. In my music studio, I like to require “Bad Moods and Seven Other Super Reasons to Sing a Silly Song” along with the CC or RCM grade books for my younger beginner students. I find that they are particularly drawn to the “Broadway” feel that songs like Doodly Doo provoke. Purple and Bad Mood are 2 favourites! These little musicians leave the studio humming and with smiles on their faces. This book is a fine addition to any vocal studio’s music collection.”
