“It’s the magic of immersing yourself in a motion picture masterpiece, or a new track from your favorite band, or the spectacle of a live Broadway show. It’s hard to define and even harder to create, but that’s what we do at The Walt Disney Studios. Ours is a culture of innovation, collaboration and creativity. We raise the bar, then step over it, blazing trails through the production and distribution of world class entertainment around the globe.”
This is a quote from a listing for a job opening with the Walt Disney Company and the prime reason why I desire to work with them.
Like many of us, I grew up with Disney. The Wonderful World of Disney program on Sunday evenings was a must in our household, not to mention the wealth of movies from Snow White to Sleeping Beauty to The Rescuers to The Little Mermaid. Such beautiful memories that fill my heart just thinking about them! But even as an adult in my 40’s I am still profoundly affected by their work. As a private voice instructor, I was the one asking my students, “So, do you want to sing Let It Go?”, over the past year. And the latest Disney/Pixar offering, The Good Dinosaur, had me on the edge of my seat and brought me to tears with empathy and revelation.
This is the power of art, the power of creativity that Disney wields with such mastery. The magical experiences they have created over the years and continue to create, the heartwarming tales they continue to tell, the ground-breaking technical innovations – they are at the forefront of everything!
I want to be part of that magic! I want to use my skills and talents as a composer, writer and voice artist to create worlds of wonder, tell stories that change lives. I want to be part of those joyous memories that children carry with them into adulthood as a reminder when times are challenging that life is indeed magical and beautiful.
